What's On at the Memorial Hall

Friday 26th February - Anna Shannon (BBC Radio Yorkshire Songwriter of the Year 2006). This is what Vin Garbutt says about her: "I have had the honour of sharing the stage with Anna Shannon. She's a truly fine multi-instrumentalist, a great singer and as far as I'm concerned, a major song writing talent. The clubs and festivals are yearning for what she has to offer." Martyn Wyndham-Read says that Anna is "A singer / songwriter of the highest calibre. Her thoughtful and imaginative guitar accompaniment is a true match to these fine songs." Her 12 string and harp like classical guitar styles and honest voice along with unusual instrumental pieces, makes refreshingly unique entertainment.  Support by Tippin the Wink.  Exceptional value as Anna prefers people rather than profit!  £6 (£8 door).

Friday 12th March - 8pm - Chris Wood - Chris received the 'Folk Singer of the Year' award, and his CD Trespasser was named 'Album of the Year' at the BBC Folk Awards 2009. "He has become one of the very few singer/songwriters who bothers to engage with real life as it happens to us all, a master craftsman, completely devoid of artifice and insincerity."  Ellen Cranitch (The Irish Times) - "Undoubtedly one of the most distinctively powerful singers and musicians in the country" (Rock n Reel).  “Gentle, powerful and classy…the finest and most original singer-songwriter to have emerged from the British folk scene since Richard Thompson” (The Guardian). Chris will be performing songs including from his new CD Handmade Life.  It's a real coup to bring Chris to Reeth Memorial Hall - support Spinndrift - an exciting new

5 piece band formed on the Folk and Traditional Music Degree at Newcastle University - £12 (£14 door)

Friday 19th March - 8pm - Paul Wheater Sings Jim Reeves - Paul, known as 'Yorkshire's Jim Reeves' has filled the Albert Hall twice with his Jim Reeves concerts.  This is his third visit to Reeth Memorial Hall.  £7 (£8 door)
